∗ Due to the arduous nature of the practical sessions participants will be required to have good level of personal fitness.

∗ Participants should bring with them a change of clothing, a towel and two(2) pairs of thick socks for wearing inside our fire boots, all overalls and fire protective clothing will be provided by TSTC.

To provide employees with an awareness of the company and Site Emergency Procedures and to train them to respond effectively and safely to site fire emergencies.

On completion of the course the participants should be able to:

∗ Understand the basic principles of the theory of combustion, know how fire spreads and the means of both containing the fire and extinguishing it.

∗ Identify and operate portable fire fighting equipment and fire hose reels suitable for extinguishing different types of small fires likely to be encountered on site.

∗ Understand fully the need for fire prevention and know how to implement prevention measures.

∗ Have gained a greater personal confidence in being able to respond to emergency situations effectively and safely.

∗ Understand and demonstrate the basic principles of effective teamwork, leadership and communications.

As individual and as part of small response units, the participants will be required to extinguish a number of fire spill and running fires.
